“A Gem of a find in the Finger Lakes”
By: DoneRoamin

My family and I recently stayed at Cobtree and rented Hemlock log cabin and then later, one of their brick built cottages. We could not get a complete week to stay at just one of the properties as everything was almost fully booked by the time we got around to making our reservation this Easter!

The first thing that impressed me was the comprehensive information about each property on the Cobtree web site and the ease of checking availability and making a reservation online. It was a little strange arriving at the property as there was not a check in and the door to the cabin was simply left unlocked with the key's left on the table. It was if I was just walking into a friends home that had let my family use it for our vacation. What next impressed me though was the cleanliness and well equipped property with views overlooking Seneca Lake. Breathtakingly beautiful! We were some of the first guests to stay in the cabin as it was only built this year. It offered fantastic but compact accommodation for my family of 6 and our dog. There were two Queen rooms, one high up in the roof of this air conditioned cabin with it's stunning views over the lake and views over the woods at the back of the cabin where we walked our 3 year old Labrador "Molly" on the woodland trails each morning. We were lucky to see plenty of wild life such as squirrels, deer, turkey and chipmunks. There was also a full size bedroom in the cabin as well as a shower room, a second toilet upstairs and a small lounge/dining room. We enjoyed sitting out on the covered porch for breakfast and again in the evening where we could read a book or light up the bbq for supper whilst the kids kicked around a soccer ball on the grass. We later lit a campfire on the edge of the woods and kids cooked s'mores.

Though I was amazed at the quality of the log homes the brick built 3 bedroom cottages, which were much larger in size, were absolutely stunning and gave us everything we could possibly ask for in a vacation rental. The best my family have ever stayed at in a long time. The Finger Lakes offered so many activities for us to enjoy and we went swimming at the Olympic size pool down in Watkins Glen after walking up the gorge and the kid's just loved the spray park at the Seneca State park. We hired a boat at Roy's Marina to go out fishing on the lake one day of our vacation, visited the windmill craft and farmers market on a Saturday, went horse riding, took a dinner cruise from Seneca Pier, a day out at Sodus bay and visited some of the nearby wineries as well. It was a really enjoyable vacation that we experienced at Cobtree and the owners Robert and Jane were very helpful with all the advice that they gave and which made our vacation this year such a memorable one. We will be returning to Cobtree in the years to come!
