There's an insane amount of fun to be had in Red River for the entire family! Of note, why not head over and tour one of the many museums and historical landmarks in the area? Red River has five places listed on the National Register of Historic Places that are available for visitors to explore, from the Little Red School House Museum to the Pierce Fuller House!

The Red River Nature Trail starts right in town beside the Platinum Lift at Red River Ski Area on Pioneer Road and travels 2 miles mostly along the Red River to Goose Lake Raod. This popular trail features trail-side interpretive signs. A short nature trail also follows the creek beginning at Mallette Park.

There are many opportunities for local fishing fun by taking advantage of the river that flows through town into the town of Red River fishing pond. Between their lakeside fishing, wild streams, and special “catch and release” water, they've got it all!

Hiking is a fun and romantic way to explore all the natural beauty that Red River has to offer. There are several leisurely trails around town for those looking to have a relaxing stroll through the Carson National Park, as well as the more challenging terrains for those adventure seekers. Hike a trail and watch the sunset together!

At Red River Ski & Summer Area the attitude is laid back, the people are friendly, and with an average of 18 feet of snow each year and plenty of sun, conditions are great. Their mixed terrain, ski-through replica of a mining camp, and terrain parks keep skiers and boarders of all abilities entertained and challenged. With a blanket of sparkling snow and blue skies overhead, Red River is a winter wonderland!

Pet Friendly

A few properties at Reservations Unlimited are pet friendly, so just make sure yours is and you're free to bring your pupper! They'll wag their tail vigorously while they explore any of the dozens of nearby hiking trails, or just relaxing in their new (opulent) surroundings!

For a superior view of the area check out Wheeler Peak, the highest point in New Mexico. At 13,161 feet above sea level, on a clear day views extend all the way to Colorado. On the way to the summit, wildflowers cover the Alpine tundra landscape like a Monet painting, marmots and pika shout warnings from talus slopes and eagles circle overhead. By mountaineering standards, Wheeler is relatively easy, but this is not for wimps because of the altitude and a few slopes that require muscle strength going up — and down.

From the stupendous accommodations to the beautiful natural surroundings, Red River has everything your honeymoon could possibly need. Despite being a small town, Red River ALSO has an extensive dining selection that is sure to satisfy even the pickiest eater. You can leave the fancy attire at home and enjoy anything from bistros and cafes, all the way to Italian, Mexican or even the finest steakhouses while still maintaining those relaxed mountain vibes.

After a day on the slopes, exploring the town, or enjoying the outdoors, nothing’s more relaxing than some bubbles– Hot tub bubbles that is! Many properties feature hot tubs designed specifically to soothe and alleviate your aches and pains. Make sure you make the most of them!

Spend your winter vacation here and you'll make memories far and beyond what's expected! Imagine spending an afternoon skiing, either downhill or cross-country at the Enchanted Forest Cross Country & Snowshoe Area, then returning to a crackling fire and a soak in the tub. You'll be feeling the holiday spirit, we're sure!
