Butler House Bed & Breakfast

I booked online 3 nights 7 months in advance for a convention I wanted to attend in Mankato. The Butler House asked for a $50 check to hold the room, and I sent it in. Three weeks later, disaster hit my family: my mother had a serious stroke and after she was released from the hospital, she came to live with me. As her primary caretaker, I realized I could not attend the convention next spring, so I called the Butler House to cancel and was told that considering the circumstances I'd get a full refund on my deposit. Three weeks later, on Christmas Eve, I got a $20 check, with a notation that they had a $10 cancellation fee, and they'd deducted $30, $10 for each night of my reservation. This was under very difficult circumstances six months in advance of the reservation, for a room that will surely be booked for the convention! I called to appeal and was treated very brusquely by the innkeeper, Ron Tschida. I've stayed at fine hotels and inns all over the world and never been treated like this. This is not just a lack of hospitality and courtesy, it's fueled by greed.
