Fishing

The fishing on Lake of the Woods is, and perhaps this is understated, world-class. This area is known as the "walleye capital of the world," and you'll see why at any time of the year. Seasonally, you can even fish for lake sturgeon here; experienced, knowledgeable guides are always on hand.

Hunting

Bordering on Canada, the resort is heaven for hunters no matter what your quarry. This is an ideal place to hunt early Canada goose, ruffed grouse and ducks; whitetail deer, riffle and even bear hunts are common from the lodge. Ask the lodge for a professional guide to this special area!

Lake

A trip to Sportsman's Oak Island is perhaps the best way to experience the vast Lake of the Woods, with 64,000 miles of rugged shoreline and more than 14,000 islands to explore. Oak Island itself is right in the heart of the lake, the wilderness, and of course, world-class fishing.

Nature

From either, you can visit historic Norris Camp, the headquarters of the Red Lake Wildlife Management Area, or Beltrami Island State Forest, the second-largest in Minnesota. Or, from Sportsman's Oak Island in Lake of the Woods, you can explore a vast outdoor paradise filled with wildlife.
