Surrounded by towering cedar, pine, and birch trees, Thomsonite Beach Inn & Suite's private, rocky Lake Superior coastline offers unbelievable panoramic views and is the perfect place for a bonfire! The Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) is nearby, along with countless hiking, biking, and skiing opportunities, or opt for a day of sightseeing in the scenic Grand Marais.
While husband and wife team Scott and Lee Bergstrom have been operating the Thomsonite Beach Inn & Suites for more than 10 years, the inn has been playing host to vacationers for more than 30, making it both a family and North Shore tradition! The namesake of the inn was derived from Thomsonite gemstone -- a mineral in the zeolite family that has been referred to as the “Gem of Many Eyes.” Jewelry made out of this very stone is also available.
The location of Thomsonite Beach Inn & Suites offers the ideal opportunity to unplug and reconnect to the outdoors. The Superior Hiking Trail showcases a network of over 200 miles and the Gitchi-Gami State Trail system, a non-motorized paved recreational trail system, will be set to span 88 miles between Two Harbors and Grand Marais when completed. Not to mention that the nearby BWCA and Quetico Park offers miles of some of the best canoeing and kayaking in the world.
