The Northland Lodge is part rich history, part Minnesota forest beauty and 100 percent family fun. At its heart - in more ways than one - is its landmark log lodge, built in 1919 and exuding every traditional family vacation that it has hosted. Today, the modern updates are obvious: the heated swimming pool with slide, air conditioned cabins, the sundeck - but the Northland Lodge will take you back to a simpler time when the fishing was great and the fun never stopped. The resort hosts summer children’s activities, along with rentals for renowned Lake Winnibigoshish fishing. And across the street the Chippewa National Forest stretches for miles, perfect for hiking, hunting & snowmobiling.
Special: Fall Discount: Beginning August 23, rent any cabin for a week and get $100 off!
Family
This updated Minnesota family resort represents decades of vacation tradition. The kids will love the heated pool, the full playground and the daily resort-led summer children’s activities that celebrate fishing and nature; you'll love your family days on the forest trail or on Lake Winnibigoshish.
Fishing
With its soft bottom, weeds and rocky underwater structure, Lake Winnibigoshish is one of Minnesota’s most renowned fisheries for walleye, record muskie, northern, perch and bass. Let Northland Lodge help you get out there with rental boats, motors, dockage and a full line of live bait onsite!
Historical
The pride of the Northland Lodge is its log lodge building, finished in 1919 for the Minneapolis Hunting Club. The craftsmen who cut and assembled the huge Norway pine logs made sure that the lodge would stay standing for generations. Today, it’s “activity central” with game room, snack shop & more.
Lake
The Northland Lodge rests in an ideal vacation spot on the 57,000-acre Lake Winnibigoshish - or “Lake Winnie,” as it’s known here. You’ll find complete boat rentals, dockage, bait and more, along with the relaxed ambiance of a classic Minnesota lake getaway on Minnesota’s fifth-largest lake.
Nature
This is an enviable position for any resort - the Northland Lodge occupies federally leased land in the heart of the Chippewa National Forest. That means thousands of acres of year round nature, along with plenty of groomed and ungroomed trails for hiking, snowmobiling and cross country skiing.
Cabins And Cottages
Twelve air-conditioned, one- to four-bedroom housekeeping cabins uphold the long tradition of Northland Lodge while providing plenty of modern comfort. Microwaves, coffee makers & grills combine with warm wood interiors for an atmosphere that instantly puts you in the Minnesota Northland spirit.
Lodges
This landmark log lodge, built in 1919, stands proudly at the center of Northland Lodge. You’ll find a full game room with pinball and other games, a snack shop where you can get a mid-day ice cream cone, a bar and a good dose of traditional Minnesota family tradition.
