Sleeping Bear Resort is centrally located half way between Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (Voted most beautiful place in America by Good Morning America). The resort sits at the base of the Leelanau Peninsula which is home to more than 20 wineries and several quaint Lake Michigan coastal villages. The resort sits on a bluff and occupies 450 feet of frontage overlooking the pristine and undeveloped Herendeene Lake, which is a 40 acre no-wake lake. You will see loons, eagles and lots of other wildlife during your stay at the resort. There is a beautiful sandy beach with kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddle boards, fishing boats and a large water trampoline for the guests to use free of charge. The resort was founded in 1971 and most recently purchased by Randy and Doreen Fosgard in 2012. Since that time, the accommodations and grounds have been totally renovated. The resort mission is to provide guests an experience that will last a lifetime. Sleeping Bear Resort is a very popular family reunion destination and can handle groups up to approximately 50 people.

Sleeping Bear Resort offers weekly stays (Saturday to Saturday) during the peak summer months. It is very popular for family reunions. Beginning in mid-August, shorter stays are available. The resort is open from the week leading up to Memorial Day until mid-March. Its central location near Lake Ann allows guests to easily explore Sleeping Bear Dunes, Traverse City, the coastal towns of Frankfort, Empire, Glen Arbor, Leland, Northport, Suttons Bay and Traverse City.
