The ideally located Sleeping Bear Resort is just 15 miles from Traverse City, and 15 miles from Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and sits at the base of the Leelanau Peninsula. The resort was founded in 1971, when it was called Herendeene Lake Resort. Mark Gabrick bought the resort in 1999 and changed the name to Sleeping Bear Resort.
