A Delightful Ranch with an "Out West" Feel

If you're looking for an adventure or a taste of the "West" how it use to be, travel to Ranch Rudolf located on the Boardman River in the heart of the Pere Marquette State Forest. This historic Michigan ranch can trace it's roots back to the early 1900's. Today, guests travel from all over to go horseback riding, fly fishing, canoeing, and tubing down the river. In true ranch fashion, meals are served in the Main Lodge. It's a great place to sit down with family and meet the other guests. Kids will love the outdoor swimming pool, hayrides, and the opportunity to take care of their own horse. The ranch offers hotel rooms, a Bunkhouse that sleeps 9, and a campground. There are no TV's or telephones at the ranch because you'll be too busy hiking, biking, and exploring! And don't forget that Ranch Rudolf is open year round! Come by in winter for sleigh rides and snowmobiling adventures. It's an ideal destination for the entire family!

Family

Your family would have to stay all year to be able to take in all of the ranch's awesome activities. Even the most finicky children will have a blast staying at Ranch Rudolf. If you've never ridden a horse before, don't worry! Lessons are available and the horses are gentle. Children must be at least 8 years old to ride. Other activities include basketball, hayrides, swimming, fishing, and canoeing. And family dinners in the Main Lodge are always delicious!

Reunions

There's no better place than Ranch Rudolf to get the whole family together! With everything from hayrides to canoeing, there's definitely something for everyone to enjoy! Try your hand at fishing, or just go for a swim! The choice is yours! So round up those cousins and aunts and uncles and head to Ranch Rudolf!

Fishing

A stay at Ranch Rudolf wouldn't be complete without a fishing excursion. Two trout-stocked lakes are onsite so you can rest assured that you'll find and catch some fish! And if you're something of a beginner, don't worry. They have personalized fishing lessons available onsite as well!

Historical

Ranch Rudolf is one of Traverse City’s first known landmarks dating back to the early 1900's. It was named after Rudolf Paziener, who came to the US in 1916. He started off as an executive chef in Chicago until a realty company offered him a job running a small ranch resort in northern Michigan. The resort had three homes on the property, two guest houses and the third one is where Rudolf lived. Today, that same house still stands and is called the Bunkhouse. In 1930, an artist from Chicago who often visited the resort named it “Ranch Rudolf”. Rudolf became a local legend and today his love for the horses and the area still shines bright.

Nature

At Ranch Rudolf you can enjoy the peaceful and rejuvenating atmosphere of nature. Explore it with an easy and exciting horseback ride. Or, if you want to explore the many trails on foot, you can do that too! There's no wrong way to get out and enjoy nature at Ranch Rudolf!

Ski/Snowboard

Usually, when the white stuff starts to hit the ground, the fun's over. But not at Ranch Rudolf! That's because, during the winter months there are great opportunities for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing on the 25 miles worth of trails in the area!
