Family

The Grand Hotel began as a Michigan family getaway, and remains one more than a century later. Michigan golf has been a part of the Grand Hotel’s history almost since it opened. The Grand nine was built in 1901, and together with the new Woods nine, the 18-hole Jewel is a challenge among serene Mackinac Island history and beauty. Historical

The Grand Hotel was born of the steamships and railways of the 1800s, and the new populations of Chicago, Montreal and Detroit who were looking for a vacation like no other. It opened in 1887 and, like much of Mackinac Island, it has steadily improved yet remained as grand and pristine as it was more than a century ago.
