John Gresham, mayor of Macon, built his Greek Revival home in 1842. The six-column portico, grand center hall, and second-floor heart pine flooring are all original to this period. In 1900, the Adams family added the side porches with six more columns along each side. The mansion was a residence until the 1930s, when it became an apartment house, before conversion into the present inn in 1983. A neighboring Victorian house was moved to the property to provide 9 additional bedrooms; the house and mansion share a courtyard and garden. Both buildings are designed with fine English antiques, tapestries, and paintings.
