Following a $12 million renovation - the fourth upgrade in the hotel’s long history - it represents the latest modern comfort and the rich elegance of one of the nation’s most historic locales. Its 65 rooms and three suites - once used as a hospital for Union soldiers - now feature high-speed Internet, flat screen LCD TVs and more, yet they retain their original heart pine floors and brick walls. A reconstructed wrought-iron veranda has been a signature of the hotel since 1857. And as it’s always been, the hotel is situated between City Market and River Street, the true heart of Savannah.
