Fishing

The Crystal River is excellent for fly and spin fishing, especially after spring runoff from July through October. Species include rainbow, brown, brook and cutthroat trout and whitefish.

Seven miles west of Carbondale you'll find the Spring Gulch Nordic Trail System and its 12 miles of groomed trails. All levels of cross-country skiers can find trails in this system that will suit their abilities.
