The resort was founded in 1853 by a spirited young French immigrant, Ramón Pierre Plasse, soon becoming home to his lovely wife, Louise. Three generations later, the resort is still owned and operated by the Plasse family, recognized as the Longest Running Family Operated Campground in the United States.
