The flourishing coastal city of Dalian is the major port for China's north-east province and is a magnet for foreign investors. The port has a wealth of handicraft factories whose products include glassworks and shell mosaics. Other attractions include beaches, parks, gardens and a zoo. Dalian is an excellent base for sightseeing and a city for holding international conferences. The picturesque and dramatic Bingyu valley and the scenic wonders at Jinshitan are well worth a visit.
