Welcome to Lakes & Mtns

With so many to choose from, which lakes and mountains should you visit in Maine’s Lakes and Mountains region? Any of them, of course! But here are a couple suggestions to narrow it down: Listen for loon calls on Long Lake while cruising the Songo River Queen II, an authentic replica of the Mississippi River paddle wheeler vessels. Catch a salmon on the 20,000-acre, man-made Flagstaff Lake while admiring the seven peaks of the nearby Bigelow Range. However, if going downhill is more your thing, head over to Black Mountain. This popular winter destination offers skiing, snowboarding, tubing and a 1150-foot vertical drop! Of course, there’s more to see than just lakes and mountains in the Lakes and Mountains region, but, with all these options, why would you want to?
