We interviewed Event Representative, Kyle Kuczma of Cove Haven Resort, about Warming up for the Holidays and all it entails.
RAL: Tell me about Warming up for the Holidays.
KK: This is the fourth year of our Warming up for the Holidays event. It’s difficult to gauge the specific attendance of our event because it's more of a continuous celebration of the holidays. It runs from November 20th until December 26th, encompassing the majority of the holiday season. What I can tell you is that we are very busy during the holiday season. When it comes to demographics, the first thing to remember is that we are a couples-only resort. The couples that attend vary in age from those in their early 20’s up to couples in their 60’s. It’s a long running event that goes on for over a month and is really focused on the change in season and ambiance at our resorts with new activities and features.
RAL: Take me through what people can expect during a typical day at the event?
KK: First off anyone interested in the event should visit our website and see the detailed list of activities that happen throughout the festival. We will feature Ornament, the tribute to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, performing at Paradise Stream December 11th and Cove Haven on December 12th. For food options we have the onsite restaurants running during their normal business hours, providing delicious culinary treats. In addition we will have hot chocolate and marshmallows at planned bonfire activities. The overall environment for the event is festive holiday fun. Aside from being all about love, we embrace the Pocono Mountain scenery and encourage guests to do the same.
RAL: Are there any lodging specials that are set up specifically for the event and do visitors tend to favor any of the particular suites?
KK: We’re offering specific packages with 30% discounts through March 31st, but they must be booked by November 30th. We will be offering Ski & Stay packages with local ski resorts for this event as well. We are currently working through the specifics so be sure to contact our staff for more details.
Yes, guests love to stay in any of our romantic suites, but the Champagne Tower Suite continues to be popular year round. Others may enjoy rooms with a lakeside view such as the Fantasy Apple Suite, Lakeside Villas, and Lakeside Chalets. Be sure to make reservations in advance to get the room you want because on some of the weekends we will be max capacity. Again, this varies because everything runs over the course of a month.
RAL: Does the event drive business to the local economy?
KK: Yes, even though our resorts are all-inclusive in nature, guests love seeing the rest of the Poconos and visiting the local shops, restaurants, and attractions. At nearby Paradise Stream, guests can go shopping at the Crossings Premium Outlets or go gambling at Mount Airy Casino. There are many nice shops up and down route 209 by the Pocono Palace, and Main Street Stroudsburg is a small drive away. Guests will also love visiting the local ski resorts for additional winter fun and to experience the majestic Poconos region.
RAL: Why should people come to your event?
KK: We’re a unique resort for ringing in the holidays. You can get into the spirit with just your significant other, or you can embrace the holiday spirit in more of a group environment. The festive vibe of the event makes it easy to make new friends and to create lifelong memories.
