Vermont’s Killington Resort Starts Its Ski Season Early

Fresh Powder at Killington

Now that Superstorm Sandy is gone - along with the warm air she swept through - skiers and snowboarders are rejoicing as temperatures throughout the Northeast are dropping back to their typical November norms. With fresh snow in the mountains, resorts across the region are moving fast to get their snowmaking preparations underway – as these cooler conditions permit. However, on Monday, November 5th, one of Vermont’s premiere ski resorts is already ahead of the curve and ready to go. As of 9 a.m. yesterday, Killington Resort is officially open for the 2012/2013 ski/snowboard season!

This early opening crowns Killington Resort as the first resort on the East Coast to be open for this winter season – again. Briefly, a few weeks ago, Killington was open for a special season pass appreciation event. Luckily, the combination of last weekend’s seasonal low temperatures and the swift work by Killington’s snowmaking crew have made this early reopening of Killington Resort possible. Other resorts in the area are continuing their ongoing efforts to open up for the winter season.
