Utah Kids Club Winter Palooza: Utah’s Top Children's Event

Regardless of the season or your reason for traveling, Salt Lake City is a great place to bring the entire family for an experience that everyone will treasure for years to come. You’d think that being the population, cultural, and artistic center of Utah would make Salt Lake City hectic and hard to navigate. In fact, it's quite the opposite. Even though you’ll find over a million people within the metro area, the overall feeling is warm, friendly, relaxed and open to visitors. During the winter months, Salt Lake City shines especially bright with things to do and great destinations to visit. You can take your family to one of the popular ski resorts like Snowbird Ski Resort or Alta Ski Area for some great ski runs that skiers of all skill levels will enjoy. If skiing is not your speed, try your hand at snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ice skating, ice fishing, photography or wildlife viewing, all of which are in full swing during the winter months in the city. If you're looking for more culture in your family vacation, the city is home to many museums, art galleries, historic locations, and amusement areas. Each winter brings different things to do, but for the ultimate family experience don't miss out on the annual Utah Kids Club Winter Palooza.

For a decade, The Utah Kids Club has been hosting this premier event for children and families. Thousands from the community and the region descend upon Salt Lake City to participate in this unique kid-themed event. You’ll find plenty of fun things for your kids to enjoy during your time at the Palooza. From the trampolines and a ferris wheel to laser tag and magic shows, every child will find something that interests them here. Traditional festival food favorites will be on hand including pizza and hot dogs. Come to Salt Lake City for a memorable experience and make it unforgettable for your family by attending the Utah Kids Club Winter Palooza. ResortsandLodges.com interviewed Cali Kellywood, the Spokesperson for the Utah Kids Club Winter Palooza, to talk about this great event for kids.

RAL: Tell me a little bit about the event.

CK: We are proud to say that this is the 10th year of the Utah Kids Club Winter Palooza. We average between 13,000 and 16,000 participants each year. As far a demographics go, it’s mostly children and their parents, although we do see larger groups and extended families here as well.

RAL: What makes the event unique?

CK: We bring in all types of entertainment from across the nation. From rappelling ropes courses to coconut climbing trees and everything in between, there’s something for everyone. We bring Speed Stacks professionals from Colorado and Kendama Championships from Minnesota.  You’ll also see magic shows, live animals, bike courses, bounce houses, a hand spun ferris wheel, rides and much more. We have something here for kids of every age to enjoy in a fun and safe environment.

RAL: Take me through a day of what attendees will experience at the event.

CK: We have a wide range of activities that include rappelling ropes course, laser tag, climbing a coconut tree, a two-man ferris wheel, body art, face painting, bike tracks, and so much more. We will feature many guest appearances, where kids can meet and take photos with all their favorite princesses, super heroes, Star Wars characters and more. This year, we will have over 50 different favorites including Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow Princesses, Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Ironman and more. We know how hungry people, and especially kids, get while they are playing so we have concessions area with pizza, hot dogs, and nachos. Also, we have special food vendors with tasty items including caramel apples, homemade licorice and taffy, and other sweet treats! The overall environment of our festival is a friendly and fun one. Plan to have a great experience and take your time once you get here because one could easily play the whole day away!

RAL: What can attendees expect to find for local lodging?

CK: We have partnered up with the Hyatt House for this year’s event and they are offering a deal for our attendees. Salt Lake City has many different lodging options that range from hotels to bed and breakfasts. During this time of year you shouldn't have any issue finding lodging.

RAL: What does the event mean to the community?

CK: Our event is a great place to bring the entire family for a day that the kids won't forget. With so much going in people's everyday lives, it's rare when we can sit down and really enjoy family time together. Our event is the perfect place to reconnect with the family and meet new people. We also bring a fairly large crowd into the community. All of these people need somewhere to stay, places to eat, and other things to do besides our great event. With an expected attendance of over 13,000 people, the economic impact ends up being fairly significant.

RAL: Why should people come to the event?

CK: There's no other place with as much fun under one roof.  Attendees can drive robots, build with blocks, have ultimate photo opps, do some crafts, play a game of laser tag, sit back for some face painting, glitter tattoos, and more, all under one roof and all included in one price. At only $10.00 per ticket or $8.00 with the use of the cupon code "resorts", there's no other event with so much fun for so low a cost!
