The Activities are on During the Off-Season at Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations & Sales

When the average traveler hears the term “off-season,” he or she pictures a partial resort shutdown, during which both the business and activities are at a minimum. Western Maryland looks to change that perception with a bevy of events, festivals, and activities during the so-called off-season. There truly is a reason to visit every season.

Showcasing all of these off-season adventures is Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations & Sales. Nestled in the scenic town of McHenry, these rentals showcase autumn adventures that range from outdoor exploration to prestigious events to fall foliage tours. Just because the leaves are falling doesn’t mean the entertainment has to follow suit.

As beautiful as the area’s fall foliage is, there’s much more to do than just admire the scenery. Stop by September 17-21 for the 2014 World Championships Canoe/Slalom Race. With more than 35 countries competing for the gold, this high-profile race has found a beautiful venue. This is only the second time this event has been held in the United States, the other time being 25 years ago, also in Garrett County.

“It is really exciting for the Canoe/Slalom World Championships to come to ASCI,” 2008 and 2012 Whitewater Slalom Olympian Casey Eichfeld said. “Deep Creek is a beautiful area and it is great that we get to host and compete in a Worlds that is at home. It is going to be fun to share the town with the world.”

Enjoy additional entertainment at the Art & Wine Festival, which runs from September 5-7 and features incredible artists and first-class spirits. October 8-12 showcases the 47th annual Autumn Glory Festival. This fun-filled festival features more than 76 events, shows, sales, exhibits, demonstrations, and more to celebrate the awesomeness of autumn.

“The Autumn Glory Festival landed in the international spotlight in 2007, when the popular travel website MSN.com listed it tops among fall festivals in the world,” reported the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce website.

Aside from these exceptional events and festivals, the area abounds with outdoor adventures. Tour the breathtaking landscape, which lights up with the fiery oranges, golden yellows, and otherworldly reds. Enjoy a wealth of water activities on Deep Creek Lake like boating, kayaking, and canoeing while also exploring on dry land by hiking through the surrounding state parks.

With fun festivals, an array of events, and almost endless outdoor adventures throughout fall, Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations & Sales offers an action-packed off-season.
