San Diego's Top New Food and Libation Experience at the Tacos and Tequila Festival

If you're having trouble finding a location for your next vacation and you like fun activities, friendly people and scenic surroundings, San Diego is the obvious choice for you. You won't find many other locations like San Diego, with its year round 70℉+ degree weather and more 260 days with sunshine annually on average.

Home to miles of the finest beaches and many top attractions in the region, this city truly has something for everyone who visits. The sandy shores are great for activities like sunbathing, nature photography, fishing, snorkeling and more. When it comes to major attractions, San Diego more than delivers with locations like LEGOLAND California, San Diego Zoo, San Diego Zoo Safari Park, Balboa Park, USS Midway Museum and Living Coast Discovery Center. Another aspect that separates San Diego from other vacation destinations is the amount of can't-miss festivals and events in and around the city. If you're over 21 and like tacos, beer, music and meeting new people, the Tacos and Tequila Festival is for you!

In only its second year, Tacos and Tequila Festival has carved a place for itself in the San Diego event and festival scene. After a successful inaugural year, they are expecting more of the same in 2016. At the festival you’ll find more tacos, beer and tequila in one place than almost anywhere else. Twelve separate restaurants will be serving all-you-can-eat tacos, and 15 breweries will be serving samples of all their great beers. If that's not enough for you, there will be a tequila area where free tequila pours will be handed out by the festival’s featured tequila brands. You’ll love the great live music performed by local acts and the opportunity to dance the day away.

Take your upcoming San Diego excursion to the next level of fun and stop by the Tacos and Tequila Festival! ResortsandLodges.com got the opportunity to sit down with Ryan Wieczorek, Director of Sales and Marketing for the Vegas Beverage Group, to talk about this up and coming festival.

RAL: Tell me a little bit about the event.

RW: This is the 2nd year of the Tacos and Tequila Festival. Last year we saw roughly 950 people at the event, but this year we are expecting more. Demographically our crowd is 21-plus, but among our attendees we see friends, families, couples and co-workers.

RAL: What makes this event unique?

RW: It’s an interactive competition judging the tacos, so you have the opportunity to rate the best taco in San Diego. Don't forget about the unlimited craft beer and tequila samples in addition to the best tacos in the San Diego area. The coolest thing about this event is that we have a latino Killers Tribute Band as well!

RAL: Take me through a day at the event.

RW: This year at the festival, you’ll find activities such as taco tasting from at least 12 different high quality and unique vendors, beer tasting samples from 15 separate breweries, tequila, and dancing to live music performed by three great acts.

The overall environment of the festival is casual, laid back and fun. It’s during the day in the summer under the hot San Diego sun, so tank tops and shorts are recommended.

RAL: What can an attendee expect to find for local lodging?

RW: There are plenty of lodging options close by the event. No matter your budget or the size of your group, it's not hard to find the ideal lodging for your needs. Lodging doesn't fill up so you won’t have to worry about being able to find appropriate lodging with relative ease.

RAL: Is there maybe one place in particular that guests have been flocking to since the event started?

RW: Monkey Paw Brewery, right next to the venue, is the go-to spot after the event concludes. It’s a great place to meet some new people and sample their delicious beers.

RAL: What does the event mean to the community?

RW: First and foremost, the event brings awareness to chefs who are making the tacos. It also gives the brewers and distillers that are participating a new and larger audience for their products.

RAL: Does the event support a special cause in the community?

RW: This year we are supporting a great cause in the San Diego Hunger Coalition. They lead a concentrated effort to end hunger in San Diego County. They use education, advocacy and research to help make sure people are healthy and have enough to eat.

RAL: Why should people come to your event?

RW: We are the only event where you can interactively judge the tacos while partying and sipping on unlimited samples of craft beer and tequila. The atmosphere is vibrant and festive, and anyone who is 21+ and interested in the festival should join us for all the fun!
