Spa Cuisine Reinterpreted at Lake Austin Spa Resort

Organic gardens and regional flavors have set the stage for a major shift in what spa cuisine is all about at Lake Austin Spa Resort. Located in Austin, Texas, the destination spa creates a world full of delicious endeavors for guests to indulge in while vacationing at one the country’s most beautiful resorts. Culinary excellence has found its way to the shores of Lake Austin with a new Executive Chef, Stephane Beaucamp and intimate gatherings and cooking demonstrations with some of the country’s most celebrated celebrity chefs.

It is no surprise that with excellent cuisine, comes some of the most prestigious awards. Condé Nast Traveler magazine has named Lake Austin Spa Resort as a 2013 Gold List Platinum Circle winner for achieving consistent scores on the Gold List for the past five years. The spa has also been recognized as one of the best in the world by Travel + Leisure magazine, Celebrated Living and US News and World Report.

Guests from all over the country escape to Lake Austin Spa Resort year-round and enjoy a daily schedule of up to 20 fitness classes and activities, (such as yoga, hiking, kayaking, Pilates, Zumba, nutrition lectures) more than 100 unique services in the resort’s 25,000-square foot LakeHouse Spa and delicious, healthy meals surrounded by spectacular scenery in the serene Texas Hill Country. Art and antiques fill the guest spaces of this 40-room lakefront retreat and create the feeling of visiting “your best friend’s lakehouse”.

Executive Chef Stephane Beaucamp leads the kitchen at Lake Austin Spa Resort in innovative ways, utilizing traditional French techniques with local inspired flavors, keeping guests coming back for more. Menus change seasonally and dinner is a special five-course affair, where an award winning wine list complements the exceptional fare.

Beaucamp confessed, "I am really just cooking the kind of things I have always liked to eat myself, very clean, light and delicious. When people hear the words 'spa cuisine' — especially men — they think, 'Oh, I'm going to have to eat steamed vegetables and steamed fish, nothing with any flavor'. That isn't how I cook at all.”

Every month, Lake Austin Spa Resort invites celebrity chefs into the kitchen to demonstrate their skills and provide valuable take-home cooking tools, including recipes in the celebrated Culinary Experience program. Wine and cheese pairings and tours of the resort’s organic gardens are also offered. Past guest chefs include Ted Allen, Marcus Samuelson, Sara Moulton, Elizabeth Karmel, and a roundup of favorites from Bravo TV’s hit show, Top Chef.

"Our cooking classes are one of the most popular activities at the resort and our Culinary Experience weeks are a healthy dose of foodie heaven, all set in a relaxing spa environment," said Tracy York, General Manager of Lake Austin Spa Resort.

All-inclusive Refresher package rates include healthy meals, classes and activities, elegant lakeside accommodations and spa services.
