Snowboard on the Block: A Snowboarding Spectacular on the Streets of Denver

The restaurant is located in a reclaimed foundry from the 1800’s, giving it a classic feel. The classic feel is balanced by a cutting edge menu and a robust selection of craft drinks. Mercantile Dining & Provision is a Zagat-rated restaurant located in Union Station, in Lower Downtown Denver. The establishment features a menu of reimagined comfort food as well as impressive hand crafted cocktails. You’ll love the comfortable vibrant atmosphere, and you can even purchase many of the same ingredients used in the kitchen at their onsite marketplace.  

 

Each season presents you with a spectrum of events to enjoy during a trip to this city. Snowboard on the Block is returning for its fourth year and is one of the top fall events in Denver. This one-of-a-kind event fuses street-style snowboarding, new snowboarding movies, and live music. You can watch as professional riders make their way through a street course constructed out of real snow. Once the competition is over, a collection of upcoming snowboard videos from some of the best riders on the planet is put on display for participants. You’ll find live music performed by Wolfmother, Chief Keef, MARTy PARTy, Afroman, MiMOSA, and local DJ acts. If you're a snowboarding enthusiast, this is the ultimate kickoff for the upcoming season! We got the opportunity to interview Luke Rothschild, Publicist for the event, to talk about this unique snowboarding spectacular.

 

RAL: How long has the event been running?

LR: This is the fourth year, and the event will be bigger and better than ever!

 

RAL: How many annual participants do you draw?

LR: Block Festival is anticipating over 10,000 participants this year!

 

RAL: What is the typical demographic makeup of the event? Children? Families? Couples?

LR: We see a wide variety of attendees including young people, snowboard enthusiasts, music lovers of all ages, and the list goes on. We encourage anyone interested to come down and check out all our event has to offer.

 

RAL: What makes this event unique?

LR: The marriage of snow sports and music is big. Out event is easily accessible for people living in and visiting the city. You don't need to spend all your time in the mountains to enjoy the snowboarding culture.

 

RAL: Take me through the activities of a day at the event.

LR: People can watch the pro street competition on real snow, check out the snowboard film premieres, and shop at the retail vendors where they'll get great discounts on the season's best gear. You’ll also get the chance to enjoy food and beer vendors, and rock out at the live music stage.

 

RAL: Will there be any guest appearances?

LR: Yes, There will be plenty of pro snowboarders on hand. They will hanging around, talking with fans, signing autographs, and of course riding in the competition.

 

RAL: What dining options will attendees encounter?

LR: There will be a wide variety of food options for our patrons. We have a collection of Denver's best food trucks and you won't leave with an empty stomach!
