Fourth of July Fun at Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa

Some things are best left unchanged. On the first anniversary of Independence Day, Philadelphia celebrated with speeches, parades, fireworks, and an official dinner for the Continental Congress. Nearly 250 years later, proud Americans still celebrate the Fourth of July with fireworks, family, and food.

Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa preserves this timeless Fourth of July tradition in beautiful Whitefield, New Hampshire. Your summer celebration includes activities for all ages, a carnival, a barbeque, and culminates with a spectacular fireworks display.

“There’s going to be a very traditional Fourth of July barbeque and carnival,” Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa Activities Director Bobbi Sue Baker said. “We’re going to have laser tag, a bouncy house, cotton candy, popcorn, a dunk tank, dart popping, and more. We’re bringing back the traditional carnival that you saw as a child. We’re bringing back a piece of your childhood.”

The tradition continues with a delicious poolside barbecue special. The Club House hosts this freedom feast, which serves up a main course of barbeque baby back ribs, grilled chicken breast with summer herbs, and grilled sausages. This holiday special includes coleslaw, corn on the cob, potato salad, pasta pesto salad, and fluffy rolls. Traditional items from the Club House menu will also be available.

During the day, satisfy your appetite for fun at the annual Fourth of July Parade. The children in the Mountaineering Club (a resort-offered program that inspires kids’ imagination and sense of adventure) dress in festive garb and parade around the resort for family and friends.

There’s more fun to be had with cardboard boat races. Assemble your team and then assemble your boat out of a set amount of cardboard and duct tape. The venue is the outdoor swimming pool and the winner is the boat with the fastest time and the vessel that doesn’t sink. There’s truly entertainment for all ages.

“We’ll definitely have something fun for everyone, “ Baker said. “We’ll have an obstacle course and hula hooping for the children and families. There will be an old-fashioned fire pit with complimentary s’mores and even our annual fireworks when the sun sets. The most anticipated activity will be our adult axe throwing. It’s a unique experience that numerous guests have enjoyed in the past.”

Sharpen your axe throwing skills at the range, which is right in front of the hotel. You’ll learn to throw a double-bladed axe just like they do at woodsman skill competitions across the country. Then end the day with a bang at the annual firework show, which begins at sunset.

Combining a host of Independence Day activities, a delicious barbecue special, and a dazzling fireworks display, Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa is your destination for Fourth of July fun.
