Bacon, Beer, and Fun Across America

Santa Clara may be well known as the home of large technology companies such as Yahoo and Intel, but it’s also a destination that features rich cultural offerings and over 300 days of sunshine annually. The city offers something for every traveler from world class community events to family-friendly theme parks.

The Bacon and Beer Classic is one of the top events on the national beer festival circuit. It has been selling out across the country and will be making stops in major cities including Denver, Nashville, Chicago, Seattle, New York City, and Santa Clara. The Classic is a full-fledged bacon and beer blowout with craft beer samples from over 50 regional breweries and samples of bacon-infused snacks and dishes from over 30 local restaurants. Games will be available including giant Jenga, a bungee run, photo booth, and more. Attendees can also participate in a bacon eating competition and cast votes for the best bacon-infused dish. ResortsandLodges.com got the chance to interview Olivia French, a representative for the event, to talk about this nationwide celebration.

RAL: Tell me a little bit about the event.

OF: The Bacon and Beer Classic is one of the fastest growing food and beverage festivals hosted in iconic sports stadiums across the country. It has drawn sold-out crowds of 4,000-10,000 attendees in over eight cities, including New York, Chicago, Seattle, and Denver. It was ranked one of the top three 2016 beer festivals in Time Out, and has also been featured in Forbes, Business Insider, Thrillist and more.

RAL: Take me through a day at the event.

OF: After drawing sold-out crowds last year, the Bacon and Beer Classic will return to Levi’s® Stadium on February 25th, 2017. This year, the festival will be held on the field, with unlimited samples of 100+ craft beers and 30+ bacon dishes.

In addition to the food and drink, guests can try their hand at giant Jenga, battle it out on the bungee run, listen to live music, compete in a bacon eating contest, and more. The first place winner of the contest will take home a year of Hormel® Black Label® bacon.

As always, the Classic is all-inclusive. General Admission tickets are currently selling at $69 and VIP tickets are selling at $129. All tickets include a complimentary tasting glass and access to the Bacon and Beer Classic mobile app for vendor information, special partner discounts, a stadium map, and more.

RAL: What does this event mean to the community?

OF: Although we are a national tour, we curate a genuinely local festival in every host city, from the vendors we partner with to the judges we invite to the volunteers we bring on board and the non-profit organizations we benefit. Thousands of people, businesses and organizations come together, to a beautiful and iconic venue to celebrate the best their city has to offer. We donate leftover food to local food recovery organizations after every event, and a portion of profits benefits the national non-profit, One Brick.

RAL: Why should people come to your event?

OF: Thanks to its unique setting, all-inclusive pricing, and focus on local food, the Classic is a truly one-of-a-kind experience. Our host stadiums serve as stunning backdrops for attendees, who are welcome to explore both the concourse and field levels during the festival. Stadiums also serve as open and interactive spaces for vendors to share their dishes and beers.
