A Family Owned Gem for Adult Relaxation in Door County

Looking down from the bluffs of Door County Wisconsin is the quiet and relaxing Country House Resort. Located above the rocky shores of Sister Bay, the resort is secluded on over 1,100 feet of stunning shoreline. While offering a private feel away from the hustle and bustle, the resort is within walking distance of the village of Sister Bay and only a quarter mile from the highway. Sprawling over 27 acres of wooded peaceful sanctuary, Country House Resort provides a one of a kind serene getaway. This family, and independently, owned resort has stood proudly overlooking the bluffs of Sister Bay for several decades. The Zaug family currently runs the resort, looking to provide a relaxing and tranquil visit for all who value their peace and quiet. Here’s how Co-Owner, Cheryl Zaug Casey describes the mission of the resort, “Our family takes great pride in the Country House and along with our entire staff we strive to provide outstanding customer service in a quiet, relaxing atmosphere and peaceful, beautiful location.”

One of key components in providing a relaxing experience is surrounding you with a landscape that exudes calm. The grounds of the Country House Resort do just that. Expertly landscaped flowers, grass, trees and shrubs accent the woods and water, giving you the feeling that you are in a forest sanctuary. In traveling the beautiful nature trail you will come across fountains, benches, gardens and eventually the dock that reaches into Sister Bay. Every facet of the grounds is catered to those who are looking for a quiet and relaxing atmosphere.

The Country House Resort is “dog friendly” and welcomes discriminating and well behaved dogs. They have accommodations and amenities especially for dogs and dog owners. Casey explains their take, on dogs visiting the resort as, “We decided to become a dog friendly property as a result of traveling with our own dogs. We provide high end dog friendly accommodations including whirlpool suites and private water view balconies. We work very hard to provide a comfortable atmosphere for all of our guests both those with and without dogs. We have designated dog friendly accommodations. Therefore it is necessary to call the resort directly for advance reservations if you would like to bring your dog.”

On site the Country House Resort offers a range of activities for guests to enjoy. On the relaxing side you can walk the soothing nature trail, taking time to sit on benches while relishing in the rejuvenating Wisconsin woods. Venture out to the docks and enjoy some fishing, swimming or just soak in the vistas of the pristine shores of Sister Bay. Take to the water in a row boat or kayak for a different perspective of the bluffs and rocky shoreline. If you want more rigorous activity try the tennis court, badminton or various lawn games. When you're ready to cool your heels the resort has a large outdoor whirlpool, heated outdoor pool and lounge chairs. Don't miss out on the delicious European Continental Breakfast Buffet available May thru October, the perfect start to a day of relaxation or exploring the unique beauty of Door County.

Find out for yourself why the majority of the resort’s guests are return visitors. The staff goes to great lengths to provide you with a peaceful and calm refuge to relax in. Contributing to this sanctuary type atmosphere is a policy of accommodating adults and only children 13 years old and over.  In addition the resort has been recognized by Travel Green Wisconsin for their efforts to decrease their carbon footprint and reduce the amount of waste that the resort produces. Country House Resort is serious when it comes to quiet, they run a “quiet season” from November to April when Door County is in its off-season and the resort amenities and office hours are limited. If you're a person who values peace, quiet and the perspective that the beautiful nature landscape provides, the Country House Resort is for you.
